It is arguably the most beautiful part of campus, so why is walking through the Quad so unnecessarily daunting for me?
Right now, I’m not sure whether I should pretend to be on my phone, stare at the ground, or awkwardly make eye contact with everyone that walks past me.
Is that the girl in my AAAS class?
Oh god, I think I spoke to them the bar last night, awkward.
Her skirt is really cute…I wonder if it’s thrift or Shein
And what do I do with my bike? It’s 2:58. Do I get on it now and start pedaling so I get to the other side quicker? But that would mean weaving in and out of stampedes of people and potentially causing a fatal crash. No…
I’ll just continue walking. Oh, I look so silly walking with this bike! Damn. It’s 2:59. Class starts in one minute. Of course, the closest bike rack is right by Lockett, the direction I just came from… Well, there’s nothing I can do now, class is about to start, and it’s definitely too awkward to walk back, so I’m just going to take this bike into the building with me.
So here I am, carrying my huge blue bike up a flight of stairs like an idiot. As I roll it down the hall, I can literally feel people thinking, “What on Earth is this woman doing?”
Am I sweating? Yes. Am I breathing heavy but can’t hear it because my AirPods are in my ears? Potentially. Is my bike making a crazy noise because the gear is messed up? Hell yeah. Oh, I’ve arrived. History 4079, Women in American History with Professor Jacquet. I love this class.
